How to Download Snapchat Stories (Public Stories, 2026 Guide)
Save public Snapchat Stories and Highlights to your phone or computer in HD, without the app and without the creator seeing you in their viewer list.
Snapchat Stories disappear after 24 hours, and the app has no "save" button for other people's snaps. If a creator posts a public Story, though, you can save it in a few seconds from any browser.
This guide shows the fastest way to do it on iPhone, Android and desktop, and what to do when a profile has no Story up right now.
What you can (and can't) download
| Content | Can you save it? |
|---|---|
| Public Stories from creators and public profiles | ✅ Yes |
| Saved Highlights on a public profile | ✅ Yes |
| Spotlight videos | ✅ Yes (see the Spotlight guide) |
| Private Stories shared only with friends | ❌ No |
| Snaps sent to you in chat | ❌ No |
If you can open the Story on snapchat.com in a browser without logging in, it is public and you can save it.
Step 1: Copy the profile or Story link
On your phone (Snapchat app):
- Open the creator's profile.
- Tap the ⋯ menu (or the share icon) and choose Share Profile URL / Copy Link.
On a computer:
- Go to
snapchat.com/add/username(replace username with the creator's username). - Copy the address from the address bar.
Links that work look like this:
https://www.snapchat.com/add/usernamehttps://www.snapchat.com/@usernamehttps://t.snapchat.com/...(short share links)
Step 2: Paste it into SaveAnyReel
Open the Snapchat Story Downloader, paste the link and press the arrow.
SaveAnyReel shows every snap in the Story as a card with a preview. If the creator has no Story live right now, you will see their public Highlights and Spotlight videos instead, so the visit is never wasted.
Step 3: Save one snap or all of them
- Tap Save under a single snap to download that video or photo.
- Tap Save All to download every snap in order.
Videos save as HD MP4 and photos as JPG, with no SaveAnyReel watermark. On iPhone, open the file from the Downloads bar and tap Share → Save Video to move it into Photos.
Will the creator know I saved their Story?
No. SaveAnyReel reads the public web version of the Story, the same page anyone sees on snapchat.com without logging in. You are not signed in to Snapchat during the download, so your account is never added to their viewer list, and no screenshot alert is sent.
Troubleshooting
"This Snapchat profile has no public story or highlights right now." The profile is either private, or it has nothing public posted. Check the link in a private browser window: if you can't see any snaps there, they cannot be downloaded.
The link opens the app instead of the website.
Long-press the link and choose Copy, or replace t.snapchat.com/... with the full snapchat.com/add/username address.
The Story was there earlier but now it's gone. Stories expire 24 hours after they are posted. Save the ones you want while they are still live.
Respect creators
Saving a public Story for yourself is fine; re-uploading someone else's content as your own is not. Credit the creator and ask permission before sharing their snaps anywhere else.
Quick recap: copy the public profile link → paste it into the Snapchat Story Downloader → tap Save or Save All.
